I spent this past holiday weekend [Canadian Thanksgiving - better known as Turkey Day] on Gabriola Island with my friend Christiane at her Aunt & Uncle’s home. It was a wonderful weekend….
Gabriola Island is one of the Gulf Islands in the Strait of Georgia, in British Columbia B.C. Canada. Gabriola is about 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) east of Nanaimo on Vancouver Island. It has a land area of about 57.6 square kilometres (22.2 sq mi) and a resident population of slightly more than 4,000.
Though I took a lot of pictures over the weekend [I’ll post some others in a couple days], these jellyfish taken at Drumbeg Provincial Park were my favorites.
A huge departure from what I normally shoot, I loved the natural colors and how the light played in the water. I stood for quite some time watching this jellyfish meander by and was struck by its gracefulness and beauty. Of course, the clarity of the water blew me away as well… and the stillness… and the warm ocean breeze…

Beautiful shots Diana,
the jellyfish looks like he was doing a dance for you.
These are definatly frameable pictures.
Thanks … it was pretty cool…
OMG !!!!!!!!!!!!! these pictures are awsome !!!!
It was fun to help Adriana identify the kind of fish she was shooting. I grew up around them. Gabriola is such a special place…
Gorgeous shots!!! The clarity of the water and the beautiful shape of the jelly fish are glorious. You should print one or two up and make them into a wall mount canvas!
